Wince Cycle

Sometimes, money laundering isn’t a euphemism.

A lotto ticket – laundered.
A huge fortune has been squandered.
One poor washer-woman’s quandary:
something priceless… through the laundry.

Although purchased with panache, her
winning slip went in the washer.
Soaped with items in non-shrink mode,
how unfortunate the ink flowed.

It requires proof – substantial –
to claim this windfall financial.
But since she broke protocol, it
leaves her with an empty wallet.

If she’d found the chit, she’d chalk it
up to checking every pocket.
But, with eyes and ticket watery,
she both won – and lost – the lottery.
