Everyone grew up with animal crackers;
just the right thing for those child-sized snackers.
We’ve seen them pictured the same for a century:
critters confined, their “home” a penitentiary.
But now the design on their box will be changed:
location for all those sweet beasts rearranged.
After 100 years, they’re no longer caged
because of a PR campaign PETA waged.
The zebra, gorilla, giraffe, and the elephant
now free to roam in a setting more elegant.
Cruelty ends for these beasts and their ilk –
but what message’s sent when kids drown them in milk?
