Madonna presents a rambling “tribute” to Aretha Franklin at the 2018 MTV VMAs.

While up on the stage to present an award,
Madonna attempted to say she adored
the Queen of Soul – who, sadly, just passed away.
Madonna had plenty she wanted to say.

However, it seems that the words that she chose
were more about her (and did you see her clothes?).
She mentioned Aretha, tone not quite funereal,
but spoke more about herself as Girl, Material.

Madonna, who recently turned age of sixty,
still looks quite amazing – her visage transfixed me.
However, her effort to pay some respect
was more ego-driven, and less genuflect.
